We made our way back to Quito from Otavalo. This 2 hour bus ride was uneventful, thankfully! The boys enjoyed an ice cream cone sold by a random vendor who jumped on the bus mid-route.
After a very fun filled and busy week, we had a mellow night at home after catching a cab to an area known for lots of good restaurant choices, La Mariscal. It's also known as Gringolandia! I was kinda bummed since it felt a bit like walking around any American city, there were that many gringos and Europeans there! We came to Ecuador. I want to feel like I'm in Ecuador!
Yesterday, we went up the Teleferico. A gondola here in Quito that climbs to 4100 meters or 13450 feet!! We could definitely feel the elevation after just the tiniest bit of exertion. From that perch, you can view all of Quito and the hills surrounding it. It was really quite breathtaking!
On our daily trek to the park afterwards for some futbol, we stopped at the bank to withdraw a bit of cash. Everyone and her brother here has warned me to be vigilant since tourists are apparently, upon occasion jumped and robbed when leaving a bank....gah! I was nervous Nelly there for quite a while! Thankfully, that, too, ended up being uneventful.
A lazy walk "home" brought us to our B and B, where I found all our laundry clean and folded. Now that's a great way to end the day!

I love those two smiling faces. Make sure you get in some of those pictures yourself, mama. You want your boys to remember you there too!
