Puno

Thankfully, the bus was a sleeper and both boys slept the full 5 hours, which isn't much of a night's sleep, especially when you have the flu, but I was happy the boys got any sleep. Bren and I both slept about an hour for the night...woot! We postponed our trip to the islands since Kieran was so sick. Thankfully, the hostal in Puno allowed us to get into our room at 5:30 am when we arrived. All 4 of us jumped in bed and slept for about 4.5 hours.

This place was a dump, but there a bed for everyone, unlike the last place which only had 3 twin beds! We wandered around Puno, the dumpy lakeside city which didn't have much to offer but a walk at the docks and a peddle boat ride on some boats that looked ready to disintegrate at any moment. We also found a delicious hole in the wall restaurant which didn't leave any of us sick! Thankfully, Kieran's fever had broken in the morning and he was left with a runny nose and a cough.

We headed back to the hostal early and watched some bad American television. This was the first time we had tv since arriving in Ecuador over 4 weeks ago. Somehow, it was just what the doctor ordered!

Early the next morning we were going to the islands. Kieran was energetic and in good spirits, just had a cold. Phew, time to move on.
