The capital of Peru and only big "western like" city in Peru is where we end our 6 week adventure. I was surprisingly very comforted by arriving here to this megalopolis of 10 million people. Maybe it's just that I know this is the end and I'm eager to be home or maybe it's because it feels more like home in that I've been to a zillion western cities before so it seems familiar. Even Reyn said after some emergency vehicle raced by, "hey that sounds like a real siren." Funny how something like the sound of a familiar siren can harken you back to home.
We're spending two days here, most of the day yesterday was spent doing nothing much at all, same for today. It's nice to have nothing on the agenda other than a plane flight home, to our little nest in the foothills of another stunning little gem in the world, the Sierra Nevada and Nevada County.
We're missing our friends, our routines, regular hot water and water you can drink from the tap. Also missing the comfort of knowing when I walk into a bathroom there will most likely be toilet paper! We're missing Bren. And we're missing Bodhi, our dog. We're missing SMCR, PACE and FoxWalkers. We're missing all the goodness in our world back home and eager to be there tomorrow. We only have one more bumpy road back....a flight at 1:40am and a 13 hour layover in Dallas! Normally, that would sound like hell to me, but at the other end will be Bren's smiling face and his love to bring us home!
